Jamie Henderson

Jamie Henderson is an Ashtanga Yoga / Vinyasa practitioner and teacher who is passionate about body movement and health. Having left London to focus solely on Yoga in 2016, Jamie has studied and trained extensively with Iain Grysak in Bali. He was first introduced to Yoga in 2009 and has had a daily practice since 2014 and maintains a regular meditation / pranayama practice.

‘Aside from my Yoga and meditation practices I have had a personal study of philosophy, anatomy, trigger point therapy and massage for over a decade and a passion for studying and observing body movement and body mechanics from a variety of styles including gymnastics, martial arts and rock climbing to name but a few. Martial arts, and in particular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which I dedicated many years of my life to has taught me so much about other people's bodies, weight distribution and the subtlety of joint articulation and range of movement which aids me so much in my teaching. As I have learnt and continue to learn various movement styles and principles alongside my Yoga practice, I like to incorporate these into my teachings to offer a greater understanding of mobility, body mechanics and bodily awareness.’

Jamie worked as an engineer for nearly 20 years, so he has a good understanding of problem solving, which translates into breaking down movement and skills into accessible progressions with a focus on detail.

Jamie’s teaching style is one of compassion, focus and to provide a safe and calm space for all students to go in and explore what is there. Jamie has a keen eye for detail and progressions on technique but also one of allowance and giving the student space and time to work within themselves. ‘I believe in being supportive and compassionate but also empowering each and every student with a goal of elevating and creating a positive space.
